A loan of $1,000 helped to buy merchandise and thread for her weaving.

Ana Isabel's story

Ana Isabel, 37, lives in an urban zone in Las Orquídeas (so called because at its founding there were many orchid plants there) in Guayaquil. Her husband works for a firm as a machine operator. She has three children who are 10, 8 and 15 years of age; they all go to public schools.

She started out thanks to a friend who got her into catalogue sales. Later, she enrolled in a weaving course. She works alone every day or during her free time; she does not have fixed schedules.

With help from the loan she’d like to buy catalogue products and to weave the purses to increase her income. In the future she’d like to set up a stationery shop
