Las Cien Flores Group's story

The group Las Cien Flores is made up of three hard-working and enterprising people. One of them is Ana Lorena. She is 26 years old and has been selling tortillas for six years. She started with 1/2 quintal [1 quintal = 100 lbs] of corn. Now she purchases a quintal of corn daily for the production of her tortillas. She has three children ages 10 and 9 and a 5 month old baby. She will use the loan to buy corn, firewood and lime.

The other members are Marina del Carmen who is 39 years old and recycles for a living. She buys diposable containers and sells them to a recycling center. Aide Mariele is 34 years old. For 8 years she has been running a popular fritanga [a restaurant that specializes in home cooked Nicaraguan foods] that serves fried foods and soft drinks.
