This is the first loan these entrepreneurs are accessing from SMT/Kiva lenders. The leader of this group is Abu Bakar, a native of Magburaka. He is 40 years old and married to a merchant. The couple has 5 children – 3 in primary school and 2 in secondary school. Abu Bakar has been a businessman for 10 years, selling biscuits, toothpaste, toothbrushes, cigarettes, etc. With this loan, Abu Bakar will buy these items wholesale to add to his business.
