A loan of $550 helped to purchase cleaning materials and car wax.

Deivis's story

Deivis is a young man who is 29 years of age. He lives with his wife and their two children (ages 16 and 4 months) in Ciudad Bicentenario, a large-scale housing and intervention project undertaken by Fundación Mario Santo Domingo. The mission of this project is to build self-sustaining communities.

In this community, Deivis offers car wash services. He started this business because he needed a way to earn household income. Deivis decided to offer his services to vehicles that travel along the main avenues of the city. Being a young man with many aspirations started to give him more purpose. As soon he completed courses in polishing and maintaining vehicle exteriors, he became certified as a technician to work in this type of business. His skill is demonstrated through the great care he takes in making his business grow. Going forward his goal is to have his own location where can he can attract more business, offer more effective services to his customers, and generate more income to help him provide for the welfare of his family and pay for a quality education for his children.

This Kiva loan is his first with Fundación Mario Santo Domingo. Deivis will use the funds to buy materials for preparing cleaning products and car wax for polishing vehicles. His greatest challenge is attending to his customers without having an established location. For this reason, he works every day so that he can save toward acquiring an organized space where he can develop his business.
