A loan of $600 helped to purchase fertilizers and compost.

Marcos Ramiro's story

Marcos Ramiro is 52 years old, married, and lives with his wife and child in the canton of Chillanes in Bolivar Province. He has a 16-year-old son.

The members of the Communal Bank “Cooperativa Patrón San Miguel” (St. Michael’s Cooperative) meet in the neighborhood of Pailaloma, which is located 60 minutes away from the Cooperativa San Jose office in the canton of Chillanes. This Communal Bank has 13 members who engage in farm activities that involve growing corn, potatoes, and wheat.

Marcos is a farmer who grows corn, potatoes, and wheat. His supplies are purchased in Chillanes and San Pablo at the end of each month. He sells his goods at the fair every Sunday in Chillanes.

Marcos is requesting a loan to buy supplies for his crops, such as fertilizers and compost. The support from this loan will help him financially to access what he needs to increase production. Among the challenges he faces are pests, diseases, and changes in weather. His dreams are to provide his son with an education and to buy more land.

He enjoys playing sports and celebrating the Carnival festivities.
