Rose's story

Rose lives in the Nakulabye neighborhood in the city of Kampala, Uganda. She is married and has one child who is not yet in school. Rose has a business of selling used shoes. She has been in this business for seven years, and she works seven days out of every week. Rose sells her products at the market, by means of retail. Rose has requested a loan of 1,000,000 UGX from MCDT SACCO, which she will use to buy more bales of used shoes. She generates additional income through selling passion juice. The main business challenges for Rose include defaulters and the rainy season, which hinders her customers from reaching her. Her goals and aspirations for her business are to start importing shoes herself, and also to buy a plot of land and build her own rental rooms. She lives in a home that she rents, where she doesn't have access to electricity but does have access to piped water. Her major monthly expenses include rent.
