Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Margret's story

Margret is a fifty-two-year-old married woman with seven children, living on her own in a semi-permanent house in Fort Portal, Uganda. Her husband is a mason and their dream is to educate their children up to university level.

She has two motorcycles for her transport business and also operates a retail shop. Her major challenge is the riders who do not remit money on time, and her dream is to own at least five motorcycles so as to spread the risk. Margret needs the loan to buy a motorcycle.
