A loan of $525 helped to buy construction materials (metal sheets, cement, bricks, sand, etc.).

Idite Ginoca Jorge's story

Idite Ginoca was born in the district of Namaacha. She is 30-years-old and is married. She finished through 7th grade and didn’t finish school because she became pregnant. She lives in her in-laws’ home and is the mother of 2 children, who are 5 and 12. Both of them go to school. She is financially responsible for her father and her in-laws.

After she became pregnant, she moved in with her husband and found a job at the Hotel Libombos as a cook. She has worked there for more than 11 years from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. She makes 2,500 meticals a month, which she puts towards her household’s expenses. She saves 1,500 meticals a month because she has help from her husband who works in South Africa and sends her 5,000 meticals a months.

She has never worked with other banks besides Hluvuku. She became familiar with them through her colleagues, who are clients of the institution. This is her third loan with Hluvuku and her first with Kiva in the amount of 15,000 meticals. She will use it to buy construction materials (metal sheets, cement, bricks, sand, etc.) to continue working on her home.

She is confident that she will make her payments on time so she can request another loan to begin construction on a boundary wall so she can move from her in-laws’ home to her own home.
