A loan of $1,900 helped a member to buy leather.

Rosas De Villa Ingenio Group's story

The “Rosas de Villa Ingenio" community bank is about to start its fourth loan cycle with Pro Mujer, as part of the Germán Busch regional office. The group has eight members and is run by a board of directors which is led by María. The businesses that the members of the bank carry out are varied and include: commerce, making handicrafts, leather production, carpentry, a meals service and machine knitting.

María tells us that she has been working in Pro Mujer community banks for twenty years. She was invited to join by a promoter. She has a business making handicrafts from leather which she has had for twenty-five years.

María will use the loan that she is requesting to increase her capital by purchasing leather which she will use to make billfolds that she will then sell wholesale. She travels to different places to sell her products. This work enables her to make money with which to support her family. María is married and has three children.

In this group: Maria, Carmen Julia, Josefina, Maria, Rogelia Veronica, Angelica Isabel , Eva Aurora , Cristina
