A loan of $375 helped to purchase balanced feed for her sheep and acquire supplies for making "chicha de jora".

Santos's story

Santos is 38 years old, single, and lives at the home owned by her parents. They receive services such as running water and electricity. Santos resides in the village of Huamantanga, which is part of the Department of Lambayeque. This area has developed businesses related to agriculture, livestock breeding, and handicrafts.

Santos sells “chica de jora” (a fermented beverage made from ground corn and other ingredients, which is prepared for immediate consumption) and sheep. She prepares the “chicha” at home and offers it to customers who know her. Santos has been in this business for several years. Her sheep are provided a diet of balanced feed and natural grasses. The animals are kept in a pen located in an area outside of her house. Both of these activities generate income so that she can cover her daily needs.

Santos has requested a loan from Edpyme Alternativa in the amount of 1000 PEN so that she can buy balanced feed for her sheep and supplies for making “chicha de jora”. The orders she has received will enable her to generate more income since her customer base has increased considerably as a result of both activities. This will enable Santos to repay her loan and improve her quality of life.

Going forward, Santos wants to grow her business so that she can continue helping her children and provide them better opportunities.
