A loan of $925 helped to buy hardwood trees.

Erodion's story

Erodión, 32, is from the city of Quimbiri, Cusco Department. He lives with Alicia, 30, and they have three children who are the joy of their home. They all live together in their own home.

In the community of Vista Alegre Baja in Quimbiri District, Erodión works very hard as a farmer. He has a three hectare field where he grows coffee, cocoa beans and pineapples. He has been in this occupation for 10 years so he is very aware of how hard farming can be. During harvest time he hires day laborers to help him pick the fruit. Fruit production, in this case coffee and pineapple, is profitable because the crop consolidators pay him good prices for each kilogram. The problem in his work consists in being unable to combat the insects that damage the buds of his crops. For now, though, his main priority is buying new land because he lacks space to continue planting.

This is Erodión’s sixth loan with MFP. He is determined to repay all his installments punctually because he hopes to access a future loan later. He is a very participative member of his communal bank.

He will use the requested loan to buy hardwood trees like mahogany, cedar and tornillo, to use as fencing around the perimeter of his field and in time be able to saw large volumes of lumber from the trunks.
