Hamida's story

Hamida lives in the Client neighborhood of Kampala, Uganda. She is married and has one child, who is not yet in school. About a year ago she went into business running a bakery. She works seven days a week and is applying for a loan for 800,000 Ugandan Shillings from MCDT SACCO to buy more flour, oil and other items. Her main challenges are transportation and increasing prices for the ingredients she uses. Her goals are to increase the amount and variety of items she sells, and acquire a van for pickups and deliveries. Hamida lives in a home that she rents which has access to electricity but not piped-in water. Her main monthly expenses are rent, medicines and food.
