A loan of $775 helped to purchase hair dyes, permanents, shampoo and other beauty products.

Blanca Luzmila's story

Señora Blanca is a member of the communal bank Las Morlaquitas [The Debutantes]. She lives in downtown Cuenca, a city which was named a [UNESCO] World Heritage Site in 1999, birthplace of great athletes and writers, home to a diverse gastronomy and of warm and kindly people.

Señora Blanca, 24, lives in a committed relationship and has a two-year-old son. Her husband is a private security guard. They do not have their own home but rather rent.

Doña Blanca sells industrial stoves which is her father's business. She works there Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. She also practices her profession, which is that of stylist, in the homes of her clients.

The communal bank is in its third loan cycle and she will invest her loan in the purchase of beauty products, such as hair dyes, permanents, shampoo, etc., in order to continue on with her business.

Her goal is to open up a beauty salon.
