The name of this excellent group of women is "Virgen de Fatima" and it is located in the city of Ita. It is thanks to Teresa, a fruits merchant, that the group of 22 women was formed following her contact with the assessor at a weekly reunion held in the region to inform herself on the work carried out by the Comite de Mujeres Emprendedoras. They are working very comfortably on their 8th loan cycle. They all have activities to earn an income. They help each other to reach the common objectives of the group. At this time Zunilda requests a loan to purchase clothing, cosmetics, fruits, and vegetables. She has a modest business selling this variety of products. This is the source of income that she earns to support her family and herself.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
