Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $1,025 helped to have maintenance work done on her mill and to buy flour, sugar, yeast and eggs.

Maria Del Carmen's story

María lives with her husband and a 21 year-old son. She owns a mill which is used for grinding cooked corn. She has owned this business for six years and works from 5.00am to 4.00pm.

María is currently requesting a loan to have maintenance work done on her mill and also to buy materials for making bread. This loan will help her to keep her mill in good condition and continue providing a good service to her customers.

María's goal is to work hard, repay this loan correctly and spend time with her family.
