A loan of $1,100 helped to buy prepared food like: humitas, tamales, juanes (cold food based on corn, rice and meat), cakes, cookies, soft drinks and water.

Rosa Elena's story

Rosa Elena belongs to the “El Abiseo” communal bank in Juanjui District, Mariscal Cáceres Province, San Martín Department. She’s married and is 43 years old. She is the mother of two children, a girl and a boy; both go to secondary school.

She decided to start her refreshments business twenty years ago. Her initial capital was 100 new soles and her main consumers are customers that come to her husband’s shop and passersby.

She will use this 3000 new sol loan to buy prepared products like: humitas, tamales, juanes (cold food based on corn, rice and meat), cakes, cookies, various flavors and sizes of soft drinks, sparkling and flat mineral water. Part of the money will be used to buy regional fruit to prepare juice and beverages to accompany the food.

Rosa Elena is always happy and her dream is to have, later on, a very large vehicle spare parts store. She is grateful to the Manuela Ramos Movement for the help it provides towards her dream becoming a reality.
