Maria Isabel

Nicaragua
Managua, Nicaragua / Personal Housing Expenses

A loan of $550 helped to buy construction supplies such as blocks, cement and iron to build a sewage drain so that she can install a toilet and achieve better hygiene.

Maria Isabel's story

María sells tortillas and pork, and now she also sells clothes. She plans to make more income which will help her with her basic household food expenses and also help her cover her water and electricity bills.

María has the support of her husband who is a gardener by profession. Through Afodenic, she has managed to make improvements. Over four loan cycles, she has increased her sales inventory and also improved her home.

María will use this loan to build a sewage drain so that she can install a toilet and achieve better hygiene. This will mean that sewage no longer passes through the neighborhood. She will pay some people to build her a sewage drain and will buy blocks, iron and cement. She will also buy a toilet.
