We Go Try Group's story

Meet the members of the “We Go Try” group from Waterloo, a small town in western Sierra Leone. They are all local entrepreneurs who have come to SMT, a partner of Kiva.org, to apply for a loan of SLL 3,400,000 for the entire group. With the help of this loan they will be able to expand their businesses, make more sales and consequently improve their living conditions.

Hawanatu is the leader of this group. The 39-year-old woman is single and has three children who are attending primary and secondary schools. Hawanatu has been a businesswoman for 15 years now. She sells food such as rice, pepper, onions, oil, etc. With her share of this loan, she will buy the above-mentioned items at wholesale to add to her current stock.
