Laneh Kuru Group's story

Salone Microfinance Trust (SMT), a partner of Kiva.org in Makeni, northern Sierra Leone, is very pleased to present to you members of the “Laneh Kuru” group. These are small-scale entrepreneurs who have come to SMT/Kiva lenders to seek a loan of SLL 1,500,000 for each in order to invest in their businesses.

Fatmata is the leader of this group. Fatmata is 35, married, and has five children. Three are in primary school and two are in secondary school.

Fatmata sells cooking utensils – spoons, knives, plates, pots, etc., and has been doing this business for 22 years now. With the help of this loan, Fatmata will invest in her business by buying different kinds of cooking utensils in large quantity to add to her business.
