A loan of $1,000 helped to purchase farming supplies and feed for her animals.

Maria Rosa's story

María Rosa is 50 years old, married, and lives with her husband and children in the canton of Guaranda in Bolivar Province. She and her husband have six children.

The members of the Communal Bank “Grupo Pucara” meet in the community of Pucara, Guanujo Parish, Guaranda Canton. This area is located 15 minutes away from the office of Cooperativa San Jose. The 22 members of this group engage in agriculture, livestock breeding, and selling legumes.

María is a farmer and a livestock breeder. She has a half plot of land in the local area and five plots in the city of Ambato where she grows beans, potatoes, and carrots. María also has 10 heads of cattle. She buys her supplies at the market in Guaranda and sells her products at the wholesale market in the same city.

María is requesting a loan to buy supplies and feed for her animals. The support she is receiving through this loan will help meet her financial needs. Among the challenges she faces are pests, diseases, and changes in weather. Her dreams include continuing to work in agriculture and providing for her children’s education so that they can become professionals.

María enjoys going to church on Sundays.
