Sabougnouma Group's story

The five women of the group SABOUGNOUMA are all married, and they average 37 years of age and four children each. The women live for the most part in polygamous families in BOUGOULA HAMEAU, a village in Sikasso (3rd administrative region of the Republic of Mali). These group members are on their seventh collaboration with the micro-finance institution Soro Yiriwaso in order to satisfy the needs of their customers. All the previous loans have been repaid without any problems at all.  This group of women does commerce in fabrics, with KOROTOUMOU, the group’s president.

KOROTOUMOU plans on using her loan to buy 120 rolls of cloth. She gets her supplies at the main market of Sikasso from wholesalers. Accepting cash, she makes her sales in Sikasso City and at the house to a customer base composed of women and men.

She hopes to make an average monthly profit of 10,000 francs CFA that will be used for family expenses.

In this group: Korotoumou, Maminata, Sanata, Salimata, Alimata
