Kotognogotala Group's story

KOTOGNOGOTALA is a group composed of seven women, all of whom are married. They average 35 years of age and 4 children. Most of them live in polygamous families in BOUGOULA HAMEAU, one of the villages of Sikasso, 3rd administrative region of Mali.
This is their 8th collaboration with Soro Yiriwaso, a microfinance insitution. All their previous loans have been repaid in good conditions. This group of women is in the rice business through BINTOU, who, with this loan, intends on buying one ton of rice from the farmers in her village as well as surrounding villages. The rice is then sold retail and for cash, both at the market and door to door, to a clientele of men and women.
She expects to make a monthly profit of 75.000FCFA, which will be used for her family's daily expenses.
