A loan of $700 helped to buy school supplies, composition books, pens and stationery.

Marina Santos's story

Marina is 53 years old and lives in Playas canton which is one of Ecuador's tourist spots. It has a wide range of seafood. Marina is a widow and has a grown-up daughter. She owns a stationery store. Marina started her business 11 years ago with very little money since, for one reason or another, people in her sector were requesting stationery products from her. Over time, she has had her ups and downs in her business. Some three years ago, her husband left her and, as a result, her business declined slightly. Four months ago, her husband returned but the next day he died of a heart attack. Following this tragedy, she has dedicated herself to her business 100%. She works from 7.30am to 10.00pm, with the help of her daughter. With this loan, Marina would like to buy more products for her business such as composition books, pens and stationery to increase her income. In the future, she would like to fix up her home so that her grandchildren can live in a welcoming environment. She would also like a bigger business that can make her more money.
