A loan of $750 helped to buy soft drinks and mineral water wholesale.

Emérita's story

Emérita belongs to the “Alisson II” Communal Bank in Tarapoto District, in the Province and Department of San Martín. She is 65 years old and married, with six children.

She began her business selling fruit at a small stall in a local market, but was forced to move as a result of municipal redevelopment plans. With her first loan of 400 nuevos soles, she decided to buy mineral water and soft drinks of different sizes and flavours. Her most regular customers are passers by, neighbours and the general public, which she serves with the friendliness that characterises her.

With this loan of 2,000 nuevos soles, she will buy more boxes and packs of soft drinks and mineral water, which she will sell individually and chilled.

Emérita dreams of being able to expand her business and is very grateful to the Movimiento Manuela Ramos for helping women like her have the opportunity to develop.
