Elizabet's story

Elizabet is 36 years old; she is a very honest and hardworking woman. She is married and lives with Ivan who is 30 years old and with their two daughters Camila who is 4 and Yamila who is 2 years of age in her uncle’s home located in Palcamayo. Elizabet sells vegetables every Friday in the local market thanks to her six plots of land of which two are rented and the rest generate a great deal of vegetables. Elizabet has worked in agriculture for some 6 years, enough time to be able to meet the demand that her vegetables get in the capital and is very happy with her success and says that she dedicates 100% to her crops and assures that every harvest is profitable, “you only have to make good use of the harvest season” she says. In the upcoming months Elizabet, will harvest a great quantity and quality of spinach thanks to the care and dedication that she gives them. Later she will grow lettuce and carrots. With time, Elizabet hopes to save enough to be able to buy more plots of land. Some months back Elizabet worked as a teacher for children under 5, work that gave her extra income and she says that she enjoyed it a great deal and continues to work in the mornings which give her time to work her crops in the afternoons. She belongs to the “Patrón San Cristóbal” Communal Bank; this is her second loan with MFP and hopes to learn a lot from the services that her association offers. Elizabet will use the loan to buy seeds: peas, spinach, carrots, and gladiolus flowers as well as ammunition seeds (the first stage of development) and bulbs (the second stage of development) for her second harvest.
