Ta-Yagbah Group's story

Pictured here are members of the “Ta-yagba” group from Makeni, a city in northern Sierra Leone. They are small-business women who have come to SMT, a partner of Kiva, in order to ask for a loan of SLL 800,000 for each woman in the group. With this loan, they will be able to add more goods to their businesses, attract more customers, make more sales and profit, and consequently improve their living conditions.

The leader of this group of entrepreneurs is Nanah. Nanah was born in a town called Kamakwe, in northern Sierra Leone, about 35 years ago. She is married and has four children. Nanah sells pepper, salt, margi (used to give sauce a sweet taste), and similar products. With her share of this loan, she will buy these items in large quantities to sell in her business.

In this group: Nanah, Isatu, Fanta, Fudia
