A loan of $850 helped to buy construction materials, such as cement, zinc sheets, purlins etc., to repair and improve her car wash business.

Juana's story

Juana lives in the department of León. She is married and the mother of four children. She has owned a car wash business for the past eight years. She started this activity because a child of hers, who lived in Costa Rica and worked there in a car wash business, saw that it was a profitable activity to have at home and suggested it to her. Due to economic hardship and scarce job opportunities, Juana decided to launch this business with the help of her children who worked in Costa Rica. Her husband invested some money from his salary in the business.

Previously, Juana had a general store, where she sold clothes, shoes and other accessories which she imported from Honduras. Her second business was a snack bar, which she could not keep due to health issues. The other family income was the salary of her husband who is a bricklayer.

Juana applies for this loan to buy construction materials, such as cement, zinc sheets, purlins etc., to renovate and improve her premises. Thanks to this loan, she hopes to offer better service to her customers and improve the quality of life of her family.

She has a few plans to improve client service: a TV to keep her customers entertained while they wait to have their car washed, and a showcase for drinks. Her next goal is to buy a taxi and thus get another source of income to improve the economic situation of her family.
