A loan of $550 helped to purchase a bull.

Alejandra's story

Alejandra is 43 years old and she lives with her son in a house of her own. She has dedicated herself to agriculture and farming since her childhood. Her parents taught her both businesses and today it has become her primary source of income. The extensive farm land that she owns was inherited by her parents. She cultivates corn and potatoes and other products. She anxiously waits several months for the harvest because she knows that the sale of these products will help her to recover her investment and to earn a profit. She also raises sheep, donkeys, and cows. They are considered as working capital and in various occasions it has helped her out of some financial difficulties. Additionally she is also an artisan who knits items that are sold at markets in the city. This generates an extra income for her family. But her greatest priority is to increase her working capital with the purchase of a good breed of livestock, which is more profitable. This is her third loan with MFP (Kiva Field Partner). She considers that being part of her communal bank is a positive experience because it helps her grow as a person and above all it helps her adequately distribute her loan. She is thankful and she is committed to continue to be responsible with her payments, during this, her ninth loan cycle. The loan which she requests will be invested in the purchase of a bull.
