A loan of $2,475 helped a member to buy spare parts and pay for repairs on his taxi.

Kagarama Bakyara Tukore Group's story

Abdul, 54, has been a taxi driver for the last 16 years in Kagarama town council-Ntungamo. This business has been invaluable to him in many respects, principally in the provision of better welfare for his family of 22. Local folk describe Abdul as a gentleman with a happy-go-lucky disposition. This they say has endeared him to many people who travel from Ntungamo to other parts of Western Uganda. Abdul was at first engaged in an agro produce sales business. Like many people in Western Uganda, Abdul also ekes out additional income from a farming business. He says weekly this business nets him profits of 100,000 Ugandan shillings. He says with this loan, he is going to purchase spare parts for his taxi and also pay for overall repairs on it.
