A loan of $925 helped to buy two bags of pea seeds and sacks of organic manure.

Ulises's story

Ulises, 40, is an honest, sensible man. He lives with his 36-year-old wife. They have four minor children that he cares for and educates in his own house located in Chiras.

Since the age of 23 he has been farming. He started planting potatoes and peas which he now sells in his city’s central market and in neighboring zones like Matahuasi.

He enjoys his work very much. He considers planting peas to be profitable because he knows he’ll have larger profits in a short period of time without having to invest a great deal of capital. However, what he most likes about the work is tilling the soil. To do this he goes out very early to work with the four bulls he has. He also bought two cows so he hopes to go into production of dairy products, cheese among them. For now, he plans to open a wholesale pea sales business.

He is a member of the “Progresistas de Chiras” (Progressive Ones from Chiras) and this is the 8th loan with MFP. He is Secretary of his association and feels very happy to be able to plan and support his group.

Ulises will use the requested loan to buy two bags of pea seeds and several sacks of organic manure to start planting his fields.
