A loan of $600 helped to buy farming supplies and animal feed.

Segundo Manuel's story

Segundo Manuel, 65, is a widower living with his children in Guaranda Canton, Bolívar Province. He has 6 children.

The “NUCANCHI KAWSAY” communal bank is located in the community of El Rayo, Guanujo Parish, Guaranda Canton 15 minutes from the Cooperative’s office. The members are engaged in a variety of activities like: farming, cattle raising, commerce, small farm animal raising, bricklaying and sawmill.

Segundo farms corn, wheat and potatoes. He has four "cuadras" (land measurement) of land along the coast where he grows national cocoa beans, coffee and bananas. He does his purchases at Guaranda’s market and sales take place in the wholesale market in that same city.

He is asking for the loan to buy farming supplies and animal feed. Support from the loan will help him economically to meet his needs. The challenges he faces are infestations, illnesses and weather variations. His dream is to have more money to continue investing.

He enjoys relaxing and celebrating the festivities during Carnival.
