A loan of $500 helped buy construction materials (cement, beams and zinc plates).

Oxidio's story

Oxidio André Cuco was born in the city of Matola, state of Maputo in southern Mozambique. He is 29 years old, cohabites with his girlfriend, and has 4 children, aged from 2 to 12 years old. Three of them attend school. He droped school after concluding 8th grade due to financial lack of conditions. He owns the house they live in. He also supports his mother, sending her money or supplies in the amount of 1000.00mt/month (33$).

He moved to the district of Namaacha with his parents who were relocated due to professional reasons. He then went to live with his current wife. He works at Town's Hall for a year as a security guard, working shifts from 7am to 8pm or 8pm to 7am. He has a monthly income of 2,080,00mt (68,63$) which he applies in housing expenses, and still manages to save some, because his wife works at Namaacha Water Company and helps with the expenses.

He never asked for any other loan. He got to know Hluvuku through his colleagues who are also clients of this institution. This is his third loan at Hluvuku and second one at Kiva, in the amount of 15,000,00mt (500$), with which he plans to buy construction materials (cement, beams and zinc plates) to proceed with the building of his house. His previous loans (231$ and 330$) were used in the building of his house which is almost finished.

He is confident that he will be able to pay the loan before deadline, so he can then ask for another loans to build a grocery store to increase his family's income.
