A loan of $400 helped to purchase products (aluminum pots, basins, etc.).

Celina's story

Celina was born in the Gaza province. She is 46 years old and the divorced mother of 5 children ages 11 to 27. Two of them attend school. She also supports her 3 grandchildren who live with her. She is able to save 1.000.00mt per month because she has help from her children.

Celina moved to the Namaacha district when her husband was transferred. Her husband left herand she had 5 children to raise, so she began selling her housewares door to door (comforters, fabrics, ceramic tableware) and began her own business selling water basins. Some of her children were not able to go to school. Today she has a substantial business selling water basins. She sells twice per week (Thursdays and Saturdays) in the Informal Market from 5 am to 5pm, and she also has orders in Swaziland every 2 weeks. She delivers around mid month and is paid at the end of every month. She spends 15.000.00mt per trip and makes a profit of 8.000.00mt depending a great deal on the season. This type of aluminum pots are highly valued in the Swazi kingdom.

This is Celina's fourth loan with Hluvuku and her third with Kiva. The first 3 loans (for 10.000.00, 10.000.00 and 13.000.00mt) were used to purchase water basins. This loan of 15.000.00 will be used for the same purpose. She is confident that she will pay off the loan before it is due and request another to paint her home.
