A loan of $3,050 helped a member to invest in her cheese business.

Sembradoras Group's story

The communal bank "SEMBRADORAS" is beginning its first term in Pro Mujer as part of the Villa Exaltación Center. The bank is comprised of 11 members whose board of directors is chaired by Mrs. Lourdes. The members' business activities vary and include: commerce, production and service.

Mrs. Lourdes says she joined Pro Mujer seven months ago through an invitation from neighbors. She is in the cheese business and buys her products in the city of Viacha. For three years now she has been learning the trade from her mother. She says they began the business by providing a door-to-door service.

The loan involved now is to buy cheese that will be sold in the store on Sunday afternoons. This provides an income to help support the family. She has a common-law husband and three children.

When asked what she likes best about Pro Mujer, she says it is the training regarding health and credit.
