Gumercindo's story

Gumercindo, age 26, is single and lives with family in a house with electricity and running water. It is in the district of Salas which over an hour from the department of Lambayeque. Most of the population here is involved in agriculture, livestock farming and handicrafts.

Gumercindo uses his motorcar to transport merchandise (it is a mode of transportation comprised of a motorcycle in the front with a cabin on back to transport goods) from Salas to other rural areas. He also is involved in agriculture and has land where he grows coffee which he later sells. Both activities give him enough income to take care of his needs and expenses.

Due to increased demand in his coffee business Gumercindo has requested a loan in the amount of 3,000 PEN to continue buying and selling his product wholesale and retail. He also wants to provide maintenance for his motorcar in order to provide the best possible services to customers. Gumercindo is well known in Salas because of the quality services and coffee he offers. He is a hard worker and always trying to get ahead.
