A loan of $4,400 helped to purchase a computer, printer, and supplies for his cardiopulmonary resuscitation training classes.

Elias's story

Elias H. owns Medical Dimensions, a business that provides life-saving medical training to the Greater El Paso area. As a licensed CPR instructor with over 12 years of experience teaching, Elias is capitalizing on his experience and extensive contacts in the medical community by opening Medical Dimensions. Elias’s clients are businesses and institutions in all fields that require basic medical training for their employees. Until he gets his business up and running full force, Elias has continued his full-time job as an advanced medical training instructor.

In addition to teaching CPR, Elias is developing a curriculum that teaches health care professionals how to communicate with Spanish-speaking patients. With Spanish so widely spoken in El Paso, some medical institutions are requiring their employees to attain basic proficiency in “Medical Spanish.” Elias’s course will teach medical terminology and basic phrases in Spanish that will facilitate better patient care.

Elias officially opened Medical Dimensions on April 21st of this year. His first classes are scheduled to begin in June, when he will be teaching his Medical Spanish courses at two regional hospitals. With this loan, Elias bought a computer and printer for his business, as well as supplies for his classes. He is currently finishing his course preparations as well as procuring items such as face masks and valves that will be used by his students during training.

Elias loves teaching CPR because he knows that it can be the difference between life and death. He lives by the motto coined by Albert Einstein that goes, “Try not to be a person of success, but rather try to become a person of value and success will follow, because people are to be valued not for how big or small they are, but rather for their ability to perform the tasks for which they were made.”
