A loan of $600 helped to purchase seven beehives with bee colonies.

Edward's story

Edward K. is a 41-year-old farmer from the village of Jocho, West Georgia. He is married and has a five-year-old daughter Mariam.

Edward and his wife Mzia have a one-hectare plot of agricultural land. They grow a variety of vegetables and fruits on this plot. Harvested products are sold locally to the retailers of fruits and vegetables. Also, the family owns a small dairy farm with two milk cows. Mzia and Edward produce traditional Georgian cheese and sell it on the local market. Along with the above-mentioned businesses, they have three beehives with bee colonies. A small amount of gathered honey is sold.

With the requested loan, K. will purchase an additional seven beehives and will be able to gather more honey and sell it in season. Part of the increase in profit will be reinvested in bee-keeping business development and the other part will be spent on renovation of the house to improve the living conditions of the family.
