A loan of $4,750 helped a member to increase her fish stock.

Twitange Group's story

Scolastica D., who is in her early forties, is married with five children who are still at school. She has been a fish monger for five years. She buys her fish from the ocean area of Kigamboni, fries them and then takes them to her home area of Mbenzi for selling. She works from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. daily and is able to make a fair monthly profit.

This will be Scolastica's 2nd loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. She used the previous loan to buy more fish and repaid it successfully. She hopes for a loan to increase her fish stock. Her dream is to one day buy land.

Scolastica will share this loan with her loan group "Twitange" which has a total of 18 members, who will hold each other accountable in repaying their loans. In the picture, Scolastica is 3rd from the right in the front row wearing an orange sarong.(It was raining that day so the photo was not good and Fadhili K. was trying to adjust his glasses so his face was a bit covered).

In this group: Scolastica, Fadhili, Asha, Hamida, Mohamed, Beatus*, Mwanaisha*, Said, Hadija, Anna, Hassan, Benjamin, Lilian, Beatrice, Zainabu, Venance, Mangole, Salma
