A loan of $900 helped to buy perfumes, lotions, cosmetics, and clothing.

María Dioselina's story

The communal bank “El Pedregal” meets every 15 days in the El Pedregal location in the parish of Picoaza in the city of Portoviejo. It is a place known for being a very commercial zone, for its traditional celebrations for San Pedro (Saint Peter) and San Pablo (Saint Paul), and for the happiness of its people.

Here we got to know Maria. She is 38-years-old, married, and has three children from this relationship who are 19, 16, and 7-years-old. They study in the university, high school, and elementary school. Her husband is a businessman.

She is a housewife and to have her own resources she works selling Avon products (beauty products, cosmetics, perfume, and women’s accessories). Now she has begun to sell clothing as well by catalog and she does this at the same time that she makes her Avon sales. She works four days a week; she sells her products on credit and collects payments every Sunday. What she sells most are perfumes. She orders products to her house. She has worked in these sales for more than six years.

This loan is to buy perfumes, lotions, cosmetics, and all kinds of clothing. She is the member who founded the communal bank and she likes it for the help she receives with the loans.

Her dream is to have a well-constructed house.
