A loan of $1,150 helped buy merchandise for school supplies business.

Blanca Guisela's story

Blanca Guisela S. E. is a native of Coapilla in the Mexican state of Chiapas. She is single and works as a teacher in Tecpatan.

Blanca is applying for a loan to buy school supplies, e.g., geometry sets, pencil sharpeners, pens, notebooks, etc., that she will then resell. She has operated the business for three years and nine months. She says that she is pleased with the progress of the business and that the extra income from it has been enough, with her salary, to cover her expenses.

Blanca believed that the business would be a success from the beginning because she knew that there was no place to buy school supplies in her neighborhood. Her neighbors had to go to the center of town to buy the school supplies they needed so she understood that they would welcome a local business. Her dream had always been to own her own business so she jumped on the opportunity.

Blanca hopes that the loan will allow her to grow the business and, ultimately, increase her income.
