A loan of $550 helped to buy bags of dried fish.

Josefina's story

Josefina is a member of Mujers al Progreso (Progressing Women), a communal bank located in Calleria, a district in the Ucayali department. She is 42 years old and has 2 young children. She engages in selling dried fish, and she has been working with loans from Manuela Ramos (Kiva Field Partner) for some time now. She is a single mother and so she has to provide for and educate her children alone. Her children help her with the household chores while she is working. With her new loan of 1500 PEN she will buy 3 bags of dried fish she will then sell at the harbor warehouses, in order to quickly collect her income and then go back home to stay with her children. Because of her job she can spend a small amount of time with her children, and she tries to enjoy their company as much as she can when she is at home. Josefina is very happy because thanks to the loans form Manuela Ramos she has been able to gain the necessary working capital for her activity.
