A loan of $3,375 helped a member to purchase fertilizers and pesticides for her avocado plantation.

Luz Divina Group's story

The communal bank named "Divine Light" has started its 40th loan cycle with their 11 members. They sell breads, beauty products, prepared foods, shoe repair services, and food.

Celsa is the president of the communal bank. She is married, 50 years old, and she has 2 children, aged 27 and 24. Celsa cultivates avocadoes. Celsa's profession is nursing technology and she works in the Apoyo Hospital in Ayacucho. She also has a plantation of avocadoes of a strong and beautiful variety in the province of Huanta. She sells to the distributors in the area. She requests a loan to invest in the purchase of fertilizers and pesticides for her avocado plantation. Celsa has been part of Finca Peru (Kiva Field Partner) for 12 years. She joined following an invitation from a member. She enjoys it because the loans are granted based on trustworthiness and for the glad times she passes with her colleagues of the bank. She has been the president of the group twice before and it was a model bank. Thanks to Finca Peru she was able to send her kids to school and today they have careers. Her dream is to be able to sell her avocadoes directly and not to have to sell through distributors.
