Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $400 helped to purchase fertilizers and pesticides.

Carlos Francisco's story

Carlos lives in San Rafael Oriente in the department of San Miguel. He cultivates corn and beans. He lives with his wife and their two-year old son. He has been an agriculturist for 8 years, having learned the trade from his parents. He works every day from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

He requests a loan to purchase fertilizers and treatments for plagues to get ready to start his corn plantation. This purchase is very important for Carlo because with these products he will be able to provide better care to his fields.

His objective is to support his son and, when he grows up, to send him to school.
