Mr. Saturnino is an artisan who makes scarves (chalinas) and also works as a civil servant. He is need of a loan to buy fabric to increase his scarf production. He lives in a rented home in the area of Tembladerani in the city of La Paz. He is single and has a son.
Saturnino has been a member of IMPRO since 2006 and is very satisfied with the loans he has received.
El señor Saturnino es artesano y confecciona chalinas, también es empleado publico. El crédito lo requiere para la compra de telas así podrá aumentar la producción de sus chalinas (scarfs). Vive en alquiler en una casa ubicada en la zona de Tembladerani de la ciudad de La Paz; es soltero y tiene un hijo. Saturnino es cliente de Impro desde el año 2006 y se encuentra muy satisfecho con los créditos que se le otorgaron.
IMPRO is a small non-profit organization that has been offering micro credit to the working poor in the Bolivian cities of La Paz and El Alto since 1995. IMPRO’s goal is to fight poverty by offering loans to small business owners who cannot access credit through the regular banking system due to a lack of guarantees or collateral.
To ensure that everyone has access to credit, IMPRO maintains a low interest rate by minimizing operational costs. IMPRO’s partnership with Kiva, which began in 2007, has allowed IMPRO to expand its services while maintaining these low interest rates.
