A loan of $550 helped to buy meat, rice, fish and other ingredients to prepare dishes.

Idalia Margarita's story

At a place called "la pila del canton Montecristi" the community bank "La Pila" meets every 15 days. This is a known place in the province and in the country for its traditional culture, in this place you can find a great variety of crafts that are made by locals that keep the traditional costumes.

It was at this place where we met Idalia, 51 years old, married with two adult children, her daughter still lives with her, her husband is a farmer.

She has a small restaurant in her house located at La Pila, Portoviejo in which she prepares delicious food, she works from Monday to Saturday from 6 A.M. to 3 P.M. she serves breakfasts and lunches. She works by herself. She tells us that she's had this business for a year and that it has gone really well because hundreds of people go by everyday on their way to other cities. She prepares her dishes with love which makes her food be even more delicious.

This loan will be used to buy rice, meat, fish and other ingredients to prepare food. She's been in the community bank for three years and she likes it because the loans are very helpful to continue with her business.

Her dreams are to keep getting ahead and have her business improve even more.
