A loan of $1,075 helped to buy 10 bags of pea seed.

Walter's story

Walter is 34 years old. He is a very hard-working man and has been married to 29 year-old Nelly for 12 years. The couple have four beautiful children and live in their own home which is located in a beautiful spot in the city of Tarma, Santo Domingo.

Walter is faithfully devoted to growing his potatoes, beans, peas, corn and vegetables. He has been in this business for seven years and it has allowed him to buy his own productive land, build his welcoming home and cover his family's needs. Each morning, Walter goes out to cultivate his land together with his wife who always helps him. Together they fertilize their land so that they can enjoy a good production. Walter is currently saving up to buy more farmland. He likes to see his crops free of weeds and well ploughed so that he can irrigate easily. He does not enjoy having to go out at night and endure the intense cold. However, he knows that this will ensure his crops grow quickly and, when he sells them, all the effort that he has put in will be rewarded. For this reason, over time, he plans to grow his crops in larger quantities, above all his potatoes and peas which are the products that are most in demand in the market in the capital city Lima. This is where he transports his crops when he partners with his neighbors. In addition, he also travels to different cities on the Peruvian coast to sell potato seed and owns pigs that he fattens and then sells at a higher price.

Walter is a member of the "Santo Domingo de Tapo" community bank and this is his seventh loan from MFP. He is happy that his association trusts him and provides him with working capital. For this reason, he enjoys working as its president. Walter will grow peas over his six hectares of farmland. He will use the loan that he has requested to buy ten bags of pea seed with which he will start working.
