Melania's story

Melania is a member of the Las Entusiastas community bank. She is 47 years old and married with 3 children. She operates a taxi business and will use this loan to buy tires and pay for routine maintenance on her vehicles. She is a member of the taxi cooperative that works the Ruta Number 16 route and, separately, she works the Ruta Number 6 route, as well. Melania has been a FINCA Peru client for 13 years and she is one of the founding members of the Las Entusiastas community bank. She likes the community bank because it provides a source of credit that has allowed her to save. She also enjoys the time she spends with the other members of the community bank. Melania used to have a farm in Sachabamba where she grew potatoes. She used bank loans and her own savings to buy her vehicles and educate her children, two successful investments, she thinks. Melania's goal is buy additional vehicles and join the taxi cooperative that operates Ruta Number 6. Her goal for her children is that they find professional work.
