A loan of $725 helped to buy 12 sacks of potato seed and sacks of organic manure.

Rosario's story

Rosario is 38 years old and her entire life revolves around constant effort. She is married to Fidmer, 33, and they have three children but only one of them lives with her in her own house located in the hamlet of Cayan.

She has worked in the field since she was a little girl because her parents were great farmers who taught her all the farming techniques that Rosario now uses in search of successful harvests. However, she’s been farming independently alongside her husband for 15 years now. She loves the land of her birth and has always planted large extensions of tubers (potatoes) because the area where she lives is at a high elevation and that’s the only thing that grows well because the quality of the land is ideal and they can develop freely and grow strong. However, she doesn’t like having to carry the heavy sacks to market and this is why they seek out direct buyers. In search of new sources of income she wants to have a stand in the city of “Huasahuasi” to sell vegetables and her delicious varieties of potato.

She is a member of the “Unión por el Trabajo” (Unity for Work) communal bank and this is the tenth loan. She is happy to work with this association because she used to belong to a different group of very hard working people but because of its location she had to drop out.

Rosario will use the requested money to buy 12 sacks of potato seed of the “Yungay” variety that she plans to plant this month as well as several sacks of organic manure to spread among her plants.
