A loan of $725 helped to buy sacks of organic manure and barnyard fowl guano.

Alberto's story

Alberto, 37, is a good father who fosters family unity. He has been living with Flavia, his eternal companion, for five years. They have three children whom he cares for with much love in a house of his own located in the hamlet of Huaylahuichan. As a great family, Alberto and Flavia share responsibilities because they both work for their family’s future. While he works caring for his corn, pea, potato and lettuce crops, Flavia raises guinea pigs and makes cheese from milk produced by cows she owns.

According to what he says, he sells in the city of Tarma’s wholesale market on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays which are the days of highest sales. What Alberto likes best is being able to clear weeds from his field. “Since I turned 18 years old, I started to farm the land and have liked it ever since,” he affirms. He is planning to expand the business and improve the quality of his crops to obtain better profits and be able thus to provide a better future for his children.

He is a member of the “Nueva Esperanza” (New Hope) communal bank and this is the first loan with MFP where he is grateful for the opportunity he was given to belong to a respected association.

Alberto will plant “color” or “arenosa” varieties of potato so will use the requested funds to buy several sacks of organic manure as well as natural fertilizer (barnyard fowl guano) to insure the quality of his next planting.
