A loan of $1,075 helped to purchase materials (fertilizers) to improve her fields.

Esperanza's story

Esperanza is a single woman who is 48 years old. She owns her own home and it is equipped with water. It is located in the new village (a group of homes that is growing but in the outskirts of the city) of Nueva Arica. It is a few minutes from the district of Chiclayo. It is a district known for its principal business activities of commerce, tourism, and agriculture.

Esperanza has been carrying out agricultural activities for more than 10 years. She cultivates corn on her fields and it is a healthy and delicious food that is consumed daily by the population. She sells in the market of Moshoqueque in Chiclayo. She sells in wholesale and in retail with the only goal of increasing her income.

Esperanza requests a loan in the amount of 3000 nuevos soles from Edpyme Alternativa (Kiva Field Partner) to purchase materials used to cultivate her fields (fertilizers). She will improve her fields and she will have a better yield of corn (producing corn on the cob). It is later sold for the consumption of the population. The sale of corn wil improve her quality of life.

Esperanza is known by people who carry out the same business. But they are surprised because eventhough it is a business that is normally handled by men, she manages it with hard work and with dedication. Her goal is to advance in life and to have what she needs.
